Praline Popcorn

The perfect snack for that Halloween movie marathon! Try it along with cold apple cider!


10 c  popped corn (1/3 c plus 2 T un-popped, small, white kernels will yield about 10 cups)
1 c butter
1 c brown sugar
2 t vanilla OR 1 t vanilla and 1 ts caramel flavoring
1/2 t baking soda
1 c toasted pecan pieces
  • In a heavy 3 qt saucepan, melt butter on med heat.
  • Stir in sugar.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
  • Cook 5 minutes without stirring.
  • Add flavorings at the 4 minute mark.
  • Remove from heat and stir in baking soda. The mixture will swill and foam. This is normal.
  • Stir in pecans.
  • Working quickly in a large bowl or pan, drizzle hot mixture over popped corn, stirring and tossing well to coat all the kernels.
  • Turn out onto a large baking sheet that has been sprayed with pan spray or covered with parchment paper.
  • Allow to cool and break into manageable pieces.
  • Store in an airtight container.  Mine didn't last long enough to store! ;)
